March 19, 2006 We like to have fun at Calvary Baptist. God has given us all a sense of humor to enjoy life and enjoys seeing us full of mirth and merry . "God has a smile on His face." Psalm 42:5 "I commend mirth." Ecclesiastes 8:15 "Let your heart by merry." Judges 19:6 We were very blessed to have Eight Shriner
Clowns visiting one Sunday for service, which includes our own Pastor Warren (
Tater ) Rogers who is also a member of the clown troupe. Behind each clown is a
true person of Faith and Devotion, they donate their time raising funds for The
Shriners Hospitals for Children , which is a network of pediatric specialty
hospitals, founded by the Shrine, where children under the age of 18 receive
excellent medical care absolutely free of charge.
There are 18 orthopedic
Shriners Hospitals, three Shriners Hospitals dedicated to treating children
with severe burns,
and one Shriners Hospital that provides orthopedic, burn and spinal
cord injury care. Shriners Hospitals are located throughout
North America — 20 in the United States and one each in Mexico and Canada.
These "Centers of Excellence" serve as major referral centers for
children with complex orthopedic and burn problems.
With great joy we also welcomed John
& Debra who accepted the Lord !! Listen to Pastor Warren " Tater "
Rogers sermon of the day and hear more about our friends with the funny faces
and how God works humor into His Plan.
"Grim care, moroseness, anxiety—all this rust of life ought to be scoured off by the oil of mirth. Mirth is God's medicine." Henry Ward Beecher "I personally believe that each of us was put here for a purpose—to build not to destroy. If I can make people smile, then I have served my purpose for God." Red Skelton A sense of humor... is needed armor. Joy in one's heart and some laughter on one's lips is a sign that the person down deep has a pretty good grasp of life.” Hugh Sidey A sense of humor is part of the art of leadership, of getting along with people, of getting things done” Dwight David Eisenhower Other Community & Fellowship pages Page One, Two, Three, Four, Five, Six, Seven, Eight, Nine, Ten, Eleven, |
